The Slow Home

I had some extra time this morning and was able to catch up on a few podcasts. Slow Home is one of my favorites. (Thanks, Ashley, for the introduction!)

I'll be the first to admit, I'm obsessed with multi-tasking and checking my phone. Instagram, emails, texts, oh my! I have always liked feeling productive. Technology only encourages that addiction.

I found these two episodes on single tasking and unplugging especially helpful. I'd like to make a point to intentionally do both - in small ways - each day. I think it will help me become more patient and mindful as I continue figuring out work, life, and motherhood.

I'll start this evening by putting away my phone for an hour (remember, baby steps) and focusing on JUST preparing dinner without distractions. That means not switching out the laundry or changing the radio station.

Do you already practice either of these habits? Or are you interested in giving it a try? Do tell!

  2. I really want to be more intentional about unplugging, especially around my family and in the evenings. It is so hard with young kids though because I feel like my phone is my connection to other adults (sanity) and a bit of an escape from the chaos of motherhood. That said, the more I'm away from my phone, the better I feel and the more I enjoy my kids. Funny how that works!

  3. Home renovation and remodeling can be quite a headache if you set out to do it all on your own. Firstly you need to buy a very long list of products like plaster, paint, rollers, newspapers, storage boxes, tiles and wood.
