I'm admiring this cozy Austin house full of wood, pops of color, and greenery. Let the pinning commence!

New Music Tuesdays

New year, new music.

Antiguan Sky

Our list of house projects continues to grow. We finished painting the guest room last Sunday and the walls are bright and blue and I'm a little freaked out by it. Think Florida room meets Tiffany & Co. Oy vey.

Winter Reading List

Lately, I've been on a major reading kick lately. I find that the more I read, the more I want to read. If that makes sense.

Here's my list for these dark, wintry months.

+ The Secret History by Donna Tartt (on my nightstand)
+ A Tale For the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki
+ All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr (on Brett's nightstand)
+ The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace by Jeff Hobbs

Dylan

This Bob Dylan interview just made my day.

OK, a lot of people say there is no happiness in this life and certainly there’s no permanent happiness. But self-sufficiency creates happiness. Just because you’re satisfied one moment — saying yes, it’s a good meal, makes me happy — well, that’s not going to necessarily be true the next hour. Life has its ups and downs, and time has to be your partner, you know? Really, time is your soul mate. I’m not exactly sure what happiness even means, to tell you the truth. I don’t know if I personally could define it.

30 Day Minimalism Challenge

Perhaps I'll give a few of these a try next month.

Saturday Wisdom

Birthday flowers still going strong!

Be a good steward of your gifts. Protect your time. Feed your inner-life. Avoid too much noise. Read good books, have good sentences in your ears. Be by yourself as often as you can. Walk. Take phones off the hook. Work regular hours.

Bring Back Boredom

I'm guilty of having my phone at my fingertips more often than not. Awful right? This Bored and Brilliant study makes an interesting case. Because we are all so distracted by technology, we don't have the brain space to get lost in thought...and that's where the real magic happens! Boredom leads to creativity. Of course.

Hmmmm, 2015 resolution perhaps?

This Is 30

I'm not one to freak out about birthdays. We all have them! Mine was just on Friday and I really wasn't worked up about turning 30. I can honestly say I know who I am and who I want to be. I'm able to embrace my quirks completely and unabashedly. Isn't that what your 30s is all about? For example...

I like to go to bed around 9:30pm.
I'm a mix of an extrovert and introvert.
I visit the library at least once a week.
The simpler, the better.
I prefer clogs to heels.
I'm Type A.
I thrive on productivity but will happily spend a day binge watching a show on Netflix.

So with a new year and decade upon me, I'm excited for what's to come. Here's to being grateful for many blessings in my life and trusting that things will happen as they should. (Those are my two words for 2015.)

52 Places To Go

I'm lucky enough to have been to a few of these destinations but am always wanting to explore more. Though I can do without Cleveland and Orlando. Ha!

New Music Tuesdays

I've been catching up on Lucinda Williams' 2014 release, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone. I will never tire of her gritty, Southern sound.

Do Stuff

Burlington, Vermont

Do stuff. Be clenched, curious. Not waiting for inspiration’s shove or society’s kiss on your forehead. Pay attention. It’s all about paying attention. Attention is vitality. It connects you with others. It makes you eager. Stay eager.

2015

Happy New Year! The past few days have been a whirlwind of traveling, skiing, eating, drinking, and spending time with friends and family. Today, we're catching up on chores, sleep, and showers. It's back to reality!

I've always been a huge fan of change and the opportunity to start over. I'm still deciding on a word for 2015 as well as some goals/resolutions for this new year.

Y'all care to share any?
